National Security Executive Leadership Program

This program has helped me understand my comparative strengths and how to build upon those in relationship to making a bigger impact in the world—not only through thought leadership but also institutional leadership.

The National Security Executive Leadership Program is developed for individuals who are prominent leaders currently leading in the national security field from outside of government. The program is designed to help you hone your leadership and consider the kind of leader you want to be for the next chapter of your career. It will provide a dedicated focus on professional development and leadership training, as well as an opportunity to expand your network, all within a community of peers.

Program Highlights

Program elements include:

  • 2 in-person Executive Retreats occurring at the start and end of the program, to strengthen learning and create a space for deep reflection.

  • Virtual Peer Learning Sessions that take place in between retreats for ongoing problem-solving, skill-building, and peer connection.

  • 6 one-hour one-on-one executive coaching sessions that participants may opt into, individually tailored to each participant’s goals and areas for improvement.

  • The Impact Center’s meticulously crafted leadership curriculum, further refined to meet each cohort’s unique needs (informed by participant input in our pre-program Needs Assessment).

The community building elements were a home run and truly unique given the amazing quality of the group. The guided discussions were also very helpful as signposts for things we can work on in our roles.

Program Outcomes

Participants will come out of the program having experienced significant individual growth as leaders and equipped with tangible, actionable approaches they can implement for the benefit of themselves and their organizations. As a result of the program, participants will:

  • Engage in impactful self-reflection and experience critical clarity surrounding their leadership style, what they want from their careers, the type of leader they want to be for their teams and organizations, personal strengths, and their areas for improvement.

  • Become part of an engaged and authentic community of peer leaders who navigate similar challenges and opportunities and exchange knowledge and support with one another.

  • Experience a heightened awareness of the composition and strength of their professional networks.

  • Learn practical tools and skills for effective leadership that they can take back to their work and integrate into their leadership practices.

[The Program] has given me the tools to understand and explore what the ingredients of successful institutional leadership look like. I also learned a tremendous amount from interacting with other peers in the group, from their experiences as well as the dilemmas they are facing.
